This Jesus statute in Portugal overlooks the city of Lisbon. Apparently, it was Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer Jesus statute that served as inspiration for this one. It was Lisbon’s Cardinal Patriarch who was impressed and inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s icon and commissioned a Jesus statute to be built between the years of 1959 and 1969.

9. Christ the Redeemer of the Andes
At a height of 3,832 meters or 12,573 feet above sea level, this Jesus statute is located in the Andes and it is among the ones that are called Christ the Redeemer. This Jesus statute stands right on the Argentinean and Chilean border, on an old road that separates Mendoza, Argentina from Santiago, Chile. It was back in 1904 when this Jesus statute was unveiled.

8. Christ of Vũng Tàu
This huge Jesus statute is located in Vung Tau, Vietnam on top of Mount Nho. The Vietnam Catholic Association built this statute. The construction of this statue had started in 1974 and the construction came to an end in 1993. It happens to be a 32 meter or 105 feet tall Jesus statue, standing on a platform that has a height of 4 meters or 13 feet.

7. Lux Mundi
Lux Mundi in Monroe, Ohio did not even exist in 2010 because until then, the 19 meter or 62 feet high King of Kings Jesus statue was located there. After being built in 2004, a lightning strike in 2010 lit the statue up on fire and it got destroyed. The 15.8 meters or 52 feet high Lux Mundi Jesus statue was then built as a replacement.
6. Christ of the Ozarks
Arkansas is the location of this monumental Jesus statute, which stands tall near Eureka Springs. It was back in 1966 when Emmet Sullivan – who had previously worked on the sculpture carved into Mount Rushmore – had sculpted this Jesus statute. Although Eureka Springs is a tiny resort town, this statue stands within it at a height of over 20 meters or 67 feet.

The city of Cochabamba is where this Jesus statute is located, right on top of San Pedro Hill. The statute can be seen up close by climbing almost two thousand steps, or just by taking a cable car to the top of the hill. The statute itself is 40.44 meters or 132.7 feet tall. The statue’s left and right hands point to the South and North, respectively.

The location of this famous Jesus statute is in El Salvador in San Salvador City. In the case of this statute, Jesus is depicted standing on a large concrete spherical globe of the planet earth, which itself is propped on top of a tall four-sided base. After being built in 1942, it was repainted and restored in 2010 after sustaining damage in a 1986 earthquake.

This Jesus statute is also called Christ the Redeemer, and what makes it quite famous is the fact that it was sculpted and completed by Michelangelo in 1521. Naturally, it is among the most famous Jesus sculptures ever created, even though it is relatively smaller when compared to other famous Jesus statutes. It is just 205 centimeters or 81 inches tall.
